粟田口近江守忠綱は、初代近江守忠綱の子にあたり、二代近江守忠綱として知られる刀工で、別名を一竿子忠綱（いっかんしただつな）という。
摂津国（現在の大阪府北西部から兵庫県南東部一帯）で活躍し、津田助広・井上真改と並んで「大坂新刀の三傑」の一人に数えられた。
新刀上々作・良業物に格付けされ、重要文化財に指定された作品も残す名工である。
